Foreign Rights

We present an opportunity to acquire international rights to an illustrated dark fantasy series, Mark Murkovich (originally titled Марк Мракович) — a visually striking illustrated dark fantasy series where the supernatural is part of everyday life.

A middle-grade series (ages 8–16) that blends gothic humor with supernatural adventure, it tells a coming-of-age story shaped by danger, mystery, and family secrets, rooted in a unique Eastern European–inspired setting.

About Mark Murkovich

Mark Murkovich follows a boy growing up in a house by the cemetery, surrounded by secrets his family has tried to hide. He lives with his witch grandmother and ghostly grandfather, his raven Karloff, and his elder friend Viktor, the town gravedigger.

Mark lives in a world where ghosts live alongside the living, witches raise grandchildren, and the line between life and death is thin — and dangerous.

Themes and Tone

The series explores witchcraft and demons not as distant fantasy, but as forces that shape friendships, choices, and the cost of growing up. It combines dark humor with emotional depth and mystery, drawing readers into a strange, living world where the dead are never truly gone.

The series will appeal to readers who enjoy Neil Gaiman and fans of Tim Burton’s gothic worlds, while offering a distinctly Eastern European tone and mythology.
